Agile Learning Centers restore the joy of learning with a surprisingly effective educational approach: intentional culture supporting self-directed learning reinforced by agile management tools.

Nature Play ALC is part of an exponentially growing educational model designed to embrace all the complexity and unpredictability of our modern world! This is an emerging network of parents and educators who share tools, practices, and resources to help create an education system that is economically, ecologically and culturally adapted to our region of North Evia.

Here’s Bear giving a TEDx on Agile Learning.

Do you want to develop partnership culture with the children in your life while nurturing them to be confident, intrinsically motivated, happy people?

Let’s talk about innovative education. This is experiential learning — learning through doing!

Let’s learn to stand in authentic (instead of authoritative) relationship with learners, and hold the space for even more learning!

Experience

We'll convene a safe space and hold it together, becoming an Agile Learning Family where new facilitators, parents, and children will be invited to make offerings and hold space by and for themselves.

Structure

We’ll start and end each day together, and generate the content of the weekend co-creatively. We’ll follow the rhythm an ALC keeps during school days: morning intention-setting, daily exploring, creation and play, then regrouping in the afternoon to reflect.

Core Intention

This is experiential learning — learning through doing. It is less about absorbing certain information, and more about learning to hold the space for learning, standing in authentic relationship with learners.

Do you want to transform education as we know it?

An ALF Weekend is a gentle but powerful "taste and see" experience for people who want to facilitate intentional culture creation and self-directed education.

It’s for parents and professionals who are looking for radical and practical ways to transform education at home and in the world.

It’s for social entrepreneurs and change-makers interested in starting an ALC, a Democratic School, a Self-Directed homeschool group, or afterschool programme.

An ALF Weekends is an immersive, playful experience in facilitation of self-directed learning.

Join us for 3 in the cosy and comfortable surroundings of Stagones Nature Camp, Evia Island this Winter.

What does Agile Learning mean?

Self-directed: Humans are natural learners. When children get to follow their passions, they engage deeply, learning more quickly and thoroughly – covering years of content in weeks at the time they choose to learn it.

Intentional Culture: At ALCs children feel they are heard, they belong, and they make a difference. As social creatures, we thrive in this kind of vibrant community which builds our confidence, heightens our communication skills, and calls forth our best selves.

Agile Management Tools: We use practical and concrete tools to make these lofty-sounding ideals real and reliable. These tools and practices provide visible feedback, effective self-management, clarity of purpose, and easy integration of new patterns as needs change.

Let’s change up our conversations about education, so they’re as intentional and agile as we are.

Join the adventure with ALF Weekends on Evia Island this Spring and Summer.

Full participation in an ALF Weekend, including food and accommodation (camping, with additional options available), is available on a sliding scale from just €50 for adults and €30 for children.

In addition, more luxurious / comfortable options include an on-site cob / timber frame / straw bale tiny house and a choice of modern apartments in the nearby village.

Who's behind this?

Stagones is an eco camp and natural building demo site on North Evia. It was established by people seeking a different way of life by experimenting with the notion of “living lightly on the earth.”

Nature Play is an educational startup founded by three families in love with their children and natural surroundings. They host monthly ALF Weekends, regular pop-up Nature Days and an annual ALF Summer training intensive; all activities designed to help nurture a pioneering Agile Learning Community in the outdoors of North Evia.

EUDEC Greece is a regional chapter of EUDEC (European Democratic Education Community), a non-profit organisation that works across Europe. They are an umbrella network active throughout Greece to promote Free Choice in Education.

Join us for our regular ALF Weekend taster experiences, in 2018 and beyond.
